A casino project for the Ogallala area of Nebraska is moving forward now that casino and racetrack partners are approved. LMRC, Inc. chose to partner with Elite Casino Resorts, Kehl Management, and Fonner Park for the development. Casino plan presentations were presented in front of the Ogallala City Council and Keith County Board of Commissioners earlier this week, showcasing the racetrack and casino facilities.
The partners are set to construct and operate the casino resort and racetrack in Ogallala. After the presentation was finished, both the City Council and the Board agreed to approve the project.
$100 Million Casino Resort Complex Details
The full project in Ogallala will cost $100 million to complete. It consists of a casino with 650 slot games along with 20 table games. There will be six poker tables as well as a sportsbook. Additional entertainment will be provided via a show lounge that will feature local and regional entertainment.
The racetrack portion of the project will include a track of course and a grandstand. The 5/8 mile oval track will include barns, a paddock, and quarters for jockeys.
Guests of the new facility will be able to say on-site via an RV campground with parking spaces for 120 vehicles. A hotel is also in the works, with 120 hotel rooms and an outdoor swimming pool. The property will also host a convention and event center.
LMRC President Jeremy Smith commented on the project, stating that the company is excited about the partnership. Smith said the project will be a catalyst to help bring more economic development to the community.
Gaming at Nebraska Racetracks
In Nebraska, there are six racetrack facilities that are eligible to add casino gaming options. It is expected that at least one of the licenses will go to the western portion of the state. According to Legislature, the State Racing and Gaming Commission needs to complete an economic and social impact study to check for new sites for racetracks. This process must be completed by the start of 2025.
The Ogallala plan is a smart one as the city is located near I-80/I-76. The casino and racetrack would be added to a region that already has significant tourism. The project partners seek to create a high-end resort while working with local interests.
