After in November 2019 breaking ground on the new $150 million Live! Casino Pittsburgh, officials are now looking to fill over 500 positions at the 100,000 square foot complex in Hempfield Township that is expected to open before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Located approximately 30 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, the effort by Stadium Casino Westmoreland RE, LLC, part of Baltimore-based The Cordish Companies, replaces the Bon-Ton department store that shut its doors in the slumping Westmoreland Mall in August 2018.
More than 500 positions need to be filled!
Construction is nearing completion on the casino that will reportedly include 750 slot machines and 30 table games, a full-service sportsbook, and a variety of dining options.
Currently, applications are reportedly being taken for managerial and supervisory positions at WorkatLive.com, which will be updated as additional jobs become available.
Virtual information sessions:
According to TribLive.com, a series of three, one-hour virtual information sessions are planned for 8am, 12pm, and 6pm on Tuesday, July 21. Each of the sessions will include a presentation during which the hiring timeline and specific job qualifications will be discussed, as well as a question-and-answer period.

Vice president and General Manager for Live! Casino Pittsburgh, Sean Sullivan, said in a statement…
“We are anxious to meet many more of our area residents to share the highlights of our casino, along with the potential career opportunities available to them,” Sean Sullivan, casino vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
Recruitment Center:
In August, a recruitment center will open in the lower level of the Westmoreland Mall, where job seekers will be able to meet with representatives from the casino and have their questions answered and obtain additional information. Interviews will also be hosted at the center, according to the news portal.
August dealer school:
Also in August, a partnership between Live! Casino and the local Westmoreland Community College will play host to a dealer school, which will reportedly begin on Monday, August 17, 2020. In addition to recruiting 50 to 60 experienced dealers, the casino anticipates hiring between 60 and 70 of the 120 individuals that will be admitted to the dealer school.
Winning bid and license approval:
In January 2018, Stadium Casino won the second round of bidding to open a “mini-casino” in Pennsylvania, with the Baltimore firm tendering a winning bid of $40.1 million. As a condition of the sale, the operator was required to open its new gambling venue inside Westmoreland County and within a 15-mile radius of the region’s Derry Township.
Announced in July 2018 and the gaming license approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) in August, Live! Casino is expected to spur development and encourage people to spend time at Westmoreland Mall, where a myriad of closures have plagued the property owned by real estate investment trust, CBL Properties.
Gaming and amenities:
Upon completion, the gaming, dining and entertainment destination will feature 750 slots, nearly 30 live-action table games, the maximum allowed by Pennsylvania law for Category 4 casinos, a sportsbook, and also announced at the November groundbreaking, Sports & Social Steel City, a 445-seat, two-level sports restaurant, gaming venue, and social lounge.
The 1.3 million-square-foot development is expected to generate $188 million in annual economic impact.
