After being completely shuttered a little over ten weeks ago due to the coronavirus pandemic and the two giant integrated casino resorts in Singapore have now reportedly announced that are to begin re-opening some of their amenities from tomorrow.
According to a report from GGRAsia, the city-state’s Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands facilities were temporarily closed from April 7 as part of a government-led initiative that was designed to help stop the spread of a highly-contagious coronavirus strain that has so far killed some 26 locals.

GGRAsia reported that the 2,561-room Marina Bay Sands, which is run by a subsidiary of American casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corporation, revealed that it will be reviving post-coronavirus operations at its adjacent The Shoppes retail complex from June 19. The venue purportedly also detailed that this property is to initially be made available to members of its Sands Rewards loyalty program and see all shoppers subjected to mandatory temperature checks.

Marina Bay Sands reportedly moreover explained that its self-operated restaurants, hotel, museum, convention center and casino are remaining shut while all patrons of The Shoppes are due to be required to utilize its proprietary MBS SafeEntry check-in system. The property purportedly proclaimed that this smartphone-enabled advance ‘allows for an additional layer of crowd control and active capacity management’ and will help it in ‘supporting the government’s objective to enable contact tracing when needed.’

The gambling-friendly establishment run by the Genting Singapore Limited subordinate of Genting Malaysia Berhad purportedly furthermore asked patrons for ‘patience’ before reminding potential diners that the wearing of protective face masks remains compulsory.
