In a move that further expands its audience within the fast-growing online casino game niche, Stockholm-headquartered slots studio Lady Luck Games has signed an exclusive deal with media company King Features Syndicate to create branded games that feature some of the world’s most beloved entertainment characters.
The Swedish slots specialist’s three-year co-development deal with the Hearst Communications subsidiary will see licensed, fictional cartoon characters such as Popeye, Olive Oyl and Flash Gordon featured in slots available to fans across Europe and Asia for the very first time.
Under the agreement, from 2022, King Features Syndicate will work alongside math specialists from Lady Luck Gaming to produce “classic character designs with unique gameplay.” The first games produced by the collaboration are expected to be showcased next year in February at ICE London, according to a recent press release.

In a forward-looking statement, Carla Silva, Vice President and General Manager, Global Head of Licensing, for King Features said that if successful, the joint effort provided the potential for even more world-renowned brands to be added to the agreement.
Silva added that they see “huge growth potential in the online gaming category and are excited to bring these iconic characters to life with the impressive development expertise and entertaining features of Lady Luck Games.”
“It is important that we chose the right studio who will respect all aspects of our brands. We found all that and more with Mads and his team and very much look forward to a long cooperation where we will codevelop what are certain to be very entertaining games.”

The CEO went on to say that the decision to choose Lady Luck shows that their strategy works and their games are “some of the most beautiful and entertaining in the business.” He adds that the deal is “easily one of the most important milestones in the company’s history” and will make a “huge difference” in their “outreach” to customers and players.
