FanDuel has been quite busy as of late, signing a new partnership deal with Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI) and renewing its agreement with the WNBA. Both will provide FanDuel with additional ways to offer services and reach a broader audience.
Details of CDI Deal
This week, FanDuel announced a multi-year agreement with CDI, with the brand set to access wagering rights on horse racing content, totalizator services, media, and TV rights. The brand will also have access to a Kentucky Derby Sponsorship.
Based on the terms of the agreement, CDI will offer technology and service options to allow customers of FanDuel to bet on pari-mutuel products via the brand’s platforms, including ADW and sportsbooks. Wagering can take place on platforms in the US featuring CDI-owned or controlled horse racing options.
By next year, FanDuel will utilize the services and technology of United Tote Company to offer pari-mutuel wagering on platforms operated by FanDuel in the country. FanDuel also now has the wagering rights for the horse racing content of CDI, including the Kentucky Derby. CDI will receive a cut of the profits from wagers accepted by FanDuel that cover content owned by the company.
CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen commented on the new deal by stating: “We look forward to working with FanDuel to deliver premium horse racing content to their expansive base of sports wagering customers. We are confident that FanDuel’s market approach teamed with our expertise and technology will seamlessly deliver horse racing content and pari-mutuel wagering solutions to many new fans.”
WNBA Partnership Renewal Agreement
FanDuel and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) have signed an extension of their multiyear partnership this week, with the sports betting company named the Official Sportsbook Partner and Official Daily Fantasy Partner of the WNBA. The extension comes five years after the two first partnered up.
FanDuel can use WNBA marks and retail and online sports betting within its gaming platforms. The company will offer free-to-play games themed after the WNBA to engage fans of the sport, with future seasons featuring premium FanDuel betting odds. The odds will be featured on digital channels of WNBA on select pages in the future.
FanDuel Group CEO Amy Howe, commented on the deal renewal by stating: “FanDuel has made a concerted effort to support sports equity. We are tangibly acting to elevate female athletes and one important way to do that is growing strategic partnerships with an organization that is the true pioneer in the space – the WNBA.
