The PokerGO Cup series is in full swing, and poker players from all over the world are taking part. Just recently, Event #6 finished up, a No-Limit Hold’em tournament featuring a $25,000 buy-in. The event saw 35 players competing, with Daniel Negreanu snagging the win after outlasting the competition. The win marks the second PokerGO Cup tournament title earned by Negreanu.
Details of the Event
On Tuesday, Negreanu entered the final table with a smaller chip stack, especially when compared to the chip leader Sean Winter. However, he was not discouraged and would eventually go on to dominate the event.
Eventually, the poker tournament would whittle down to the final three. Negreanu was holding pocket kings and decided to raise 125,000. Vikenty Shegal was sitting second in chips, holding pocket 10s. He decided to go in for 1.36 million.
Negreanu was ready though and called quickly showing his cards. The board ran 7-Q-4-A-2, giving Negreanu the hand and Shegal was out in third place.
Negreanu and Winter go Head-to-Head
Now, its Negreanu with a huge chip lead over Winter, holding 85% of the chips as the round begins. It was not going to be over quickly though. Winter was prepared to fight back, but it was not enough to pull back ahead.
In the end, the final hand would go down with Winter going all-in with Q-10 of clubs. Negreanu held A-J of clubs. The board fell 9-8-A-K-10, with Negreanu securing the hand and the tournament win. The poker pro was excited about the win, stating that it felt really good to claim the title.

The PokerGO Cup is still ongoing with Event #8 underway. Players are still battling at the felt to see who will claim the first-place finish in the tournament. Event #8 is a $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament which saw 18 players sign up to compete. The starting stack provided was 200,000 chips and the prize pool is sitting at $900,000. As of writing, Negreanu was still in this competition but was running low on chips.
PokerGO is also gearing up for the Global Poker Awards. This will be the third annual running of the awards, set to take place at the PokerGO Studio within the ARIA Resort & Casino on February 18.
