Sports fans in the Granite State placed more than $2.31 million in wagers on Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, in what was the New Hampshire Lottery’s very first month of sports betting.
According to a Monday news report, upwards of 34,800 registered users in the state have bet more than $20.8 million since mobile and online sports betting was launched by the state’s Lottery and DraftKings on December 30, 2019.
Winning bid:
Beating out 13 other proposals, on November 25, 2019, the Boston-based global sports technology and entertainment company was selected via competitive bidding process, becoming the exclusive digital operator for the New England state.

The $2.31 million in total Super Bowl wagers speaks directly to why I pushed so hard to get this up and running in time for the NFL playoffs. Education dollars:
In its inaugural month, sports betting in the northeastern US state generated over $1.2 million in net profit for education in New Hampshire, according to the news report.
“When we launched sports betting just over a month ago, we were introducing our players to a completely new way to win. Clearly, it has not taken long for sports fans to embrace the excitement of sports betting here in the Granite State,” said the Lottery‘s executive director, Charlie McIntyre.
“We are extremely pleased with the results from our first Super Bowl and our first month overall of sports betting, and we look forward to continuing to build on this success as we engage more and more players, McIntyre added.”

Since the Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on sports betting, currently, 13 states have legal regulated sports betting, with Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina and Tennessee, all close.

In related news, DraftKings recently announced a new market access partnership with Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (TRWH:NYSE), allowing it to offer sports fans in Colorado its sportsbook product via mobile, online and a retail betting operation.
The two separate deals with the Boston firm and New York City-based FanDuel, make the latter platform now available in five states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, West Virginia and Colorado, while the former is currently available in the same plus one, New Hampshire.
